300 French Francs
In 1979 I was staying in a very cheap hotel in Place Emile Goudeau, Montmartre, Paris. Place Emile Goudeau is at the top of Rue Ravignan and you walk through it on the way up to Sacre-Coeur. Since then the hotel has changed its name and has become very popular because of the fantastic views across Paris. It is also a lot more expensive.
I bought this painting from a young artist sitting in the square with his unframed canvases around him. I paid 300 Francs for it. It hangs in our dining room.
