Our New Pet - Marimo

Marimo (in Japanese) or Aegagropila linnaei is a green ball of algae said to be easy to take care of and grow. It's suitable for fish tanks and grows very slowly. I like it a lot and hope it'll survive our summer as warm temperatures seems to be one of a few things it doesn't like.

It can be found mainly in natural lakes of Iceland, Scotland, and Japan.

I haven't seen it in nature yet but I'm glad to have one as a pet :-)
