Life's Little Moments

Repeat of Number Six

These big, plump sparrows are usually only around when we get a heavy snow or during severely cold temps so it wasn't surprising to find one under the feeders after Thursday's big storm.  I blipped on back in January so this is a repeat, but because I don't see them often, they are always worth a photo.  The Fox Sparrows in the Eastern US are much redder in appearance than the same species in the Pacific coast which are grayer, leading to them being referred to as "sooty" fox sparrow.

I popped over to visit MIL just before lunch today and was pleased to find her in good spirits.  We sat in one corner of the Activity room giggling and laughing until it was time for her to go have her lunch.  Today, she seemed to be much more aware of where she was (NJ vs AL) and accepting of her new living arrangements.  I think perhaps we are all starting to settle in a bit to our new routines.  So grateful that she is up here and close by.

Hubs and I had a nice walk this afternoon.  No "forest bathing" because all the trails in the woods are snowy and icy, but we had a nice walk along a gravel service road through a nearby park.  Even heard a raven calling in the woods which was nice.  Not that many years ago, ravens were a rare occurrence in this part of NJ.

Early dinner tonight so Hubs can go over to visit his mom for a while.  I'll be curled up by the fire with a good book.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
