Bikila

My Vibram FiveFingers arrived today, a brand spanking new pair of Bikila LS's in lime green and black, named after Abebe Bikila, a Marathon runner from Ethiopia. The story goes that Adidas, the shoe sponsor at the 1960 Summer Olympics, had few shoes left so Bikila ended up with a pair that didn't fit. A couple of hours before the race, he decided to run barefoot, won Olympic gold and went on to become one of the greatest long distance runners of all time.

Spent the day wearing them at my desk, getting my feet used to the toe separation and incredibly thin sole. They feel awesome.

Virgin run in the morning. Now that should be fun...
