Snowdrops at Chawton

Today my sis and I went out to Chawton House, which was having a snowdrop day.  There is another next Sunday.

Chawton House is the big house where Jane Austen's brother lived.  Jane, her sister and mother lived in a much smaller house in the village.  The big house is now a library for the study of women's literature and open to the public.  The grounds are lovely and I've never seen so many snowdrops in all my puff!

We also went to the pub in the village for Sunday lunch (why would you not?) and talked a lot about JA and a lot about other things too.  This year is the 200th anniversary of JA's death.  Our choir is planning a summer concert with a JA theme, so appropriately my sis and I are both reading/re-reading Jane's letters - the subject du jour!

When I got home I found the windows wide open and the house rather cold.  No it wasn't me.  I was rather cross, but at least it wasn't a burglar either.

Enjoy your evening, peeps  xx
