Crape Myrtel #2....

I really didn't like the round pot the Myrtle was in.  It felt to me like the plant was on the edge of a river bank, leaning over the water....
There was a very strong  roundtable discussion about how to restyle  the Myrtle.  The pst 20 months have left the plant run out to the right.
One option was to cut everything on the left and make the myrtle into a cascade, as if it was on a cliff and was hanging downward.  Then we would wait for a bud to pop and develop a new apex.   The other choice was to  bring the branches down with wiring, change the front so that the hanging part of the tree would almost, but not quite, face you,  The back branches  then would begin to give the tree depth.
After a lot of discussion, I decided to 1.  repot the tree in an oval, brown pot, and then using the underneath of the tree and the pot corner as the  front.  Set up this way, you can see the flow of the trunk up and over to the right.  As your eye follows that line you beginn to see the branches in the back move downward and back, giving the illusion of depth.
I don't know if I like this....  I have decided to bring the tree home this way, spend time moving it all around and looking at possibilities....     This Myrtle is very challenging...
But, thats the fun of this... new possibilities, thinking outside of the box, trying to make something out of the tree that the tree already wants to be.....             Stay tuned.....  things may, or may not, change!

One thing is for sure....   this is an amazing endeavor and challenge.
