Shadows on the Hills

Today I was in speed mode at open studio. We talked all morning and after lunch I began this painting. I painted Venetian red and Gold gesso on a large 22 by 28 inch canvas using one of my photos of the desert as a guide for the dark areas (red) and light (gold.) Then I began painting. By three o'clock I had almost finished the painting. When I got home I did a bit more and it was done. I love it when things flow like that. Here is a large look at this painting.
