Some things change...

... but others stay the same, over a period of time.

Another in my occasional series of 'Then and Now' images, with the help of photos from the Harrogate Library archives.

Here we see a very grand house (Pratte House) which was converted to a shop, possibly at least a century ago. It is now a hardware store at the top of Commercial Street in Harrogate. The roof line of the buildings in the street appears very much the same, and, as is often the case, the windows on the upper floors are still the same shape and size.
