European environment people

Despite not really enjoying the 'jolly' elements of my work trip to Brussels (arrived really late, dodgy 'hotel', 50 euro taxi fair, warm beer, average meal, work to do in the evening bla bla bla), the work related elements were a great success.

Lovely folk from Dublin coordinating the European Green Capital project and lots of lovely folk from various European cities, some of whom will be our friendly rivals for the 2015 award. Got a lot of good pointers that will hopefully make for a better bid when we submit it in October. I even got a loan of 2 euro from the Deputy Mayor of Ljubljana for my tube fare...

Indeed this blip is of the tube station near to the various European Commission offices. Brussels will be one of our 'rivals' in 2015 and the bits of the city I saw were all spotless and immaculately maintained. Although the award is about much much more than just the cleanliness of the streets, litter and education around litter is a real challenge for Glasgow (and other UK cities I'd imagine).
