Gimme Shelter
1. I am full of plans about healthy eating on a budget, proper shopping, chopping and cooking. I have lists. When I get to the shop there's vital things they don't have which means I end up kind of scatter buying bits of meals that don't actually add up to one single meal. I'm not a good home economist.
2. As I mull this over under my brolly I spot a rainbow and stop to take a picture. A Glasgow gent falls into me and asks 'whit you taking photies fur'. Gosh, kind sir, that's a rather big question isn't it?
3. The street rainbow photos weren't nearly as dramatic as the one from my bedroom window. Turns out there's a pot of gold in the west stand of Hampden. Someone should tell the Scotland squad.
4. In a flash it's gone and I turn back to the meal preparation. Koftas and what I first thought was cous cous that I found in a storage jar but on eating I'm not so sure. It's amazing what you can do with Harissa paste.
5. I'm continuing my journey through the Maysles brothers back catalogue, Tonight it's Gimme Shelter, which I think I've seen - those scenes we all know are so familiar. The rest of it is fairly bland and bordering on Spinal Tap and unlike Grey Gardens, with this I really want some interviews and to hear what really happened. I do like the other worldliness of it, they really do give you a sense of what their filming was like, I'll say that.
