Senhor Arnaldo and Family
When we met this family last Sunday, something seemed odd to us. Arnaldo and his family live in a small house made of wood and covered in plastic to keep the rain out. Behind their house is a seizable patch of land, where Arnaldo, his wife and his wife's brother try to grow different kinds of grain and fruits. Judging from the size of the land, they should be much better off than they actually are. After talking a bit with them, it became clear that their misery was the result of a simple lack of knowledge.
So early this morning, Breno and I headed back out to the highway in the company of an agronomist, who will spend the day with Arnaldo and his family and teach them some basics about how to get the most out of their land.
(Thank you so much for all the hearts and stars for Ariele. Tomorrow evening, a small group of Projeto Amar's volunteers will meet to discuss the possibility of offering tutorship to some of the children we met along the highway.)
