Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

By Carol

2016 Tuesday -- Love, Love, Love this Day!

I've always like holidays and "celebration" is my middle name. Eight years or so ago, this Valentine thing captured me like it never had before. I've written about it each of the past years here in Blip. Usually it is the poetry of Ted Kooser that captures me. And I still love his Valentine poetry.

But this year the music of Jackson Browne, specifically his song "In the Shape of a Heart" has enhanced this holiday and bumped it up another notch. It's linked here so you can hear too.

On another note, I enjoyed a fabulous first day of the spring semester. For that, I am very thankful. The traffic getting into the campus this morning wasn't so good (see photo), but I had the privilege of meeting the new Facilities Director at lunch time in the cafeteria. He and I discussed the traffic problem getting into the campus and he explained that the problem is high on the priority list of our new college president. So maybe, just maybe, this traffic will someday be simply a memory. That would be nice.

Happy Valentine's Day!
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
