Moscow?
....or a small town in Wiltshire?
Wilton's 'Italianette' St Nicholas & St Mary (no proper website, best description is found in 3rd & 4th paras of https://wiltonparish.co.uk/the-churches-2/the-churches/friends-of-wilton-church/ this. The link at the bottom has more info and some images.
So rainy, gloomy and dark today this splendid detailing above the altar had almost NO light on it, almost no natural light coming in through the windows of the church, which are rather narrow and hemmed in by nearby trees anyway. In real life, you can barely see this wonderful art, as it is so dark.
I hadn't been inside, shamefully, since 2010. Eerily, there was not a soul or sound inside. It was cold. Candles burned and apart couple of other lights, it was dark dark dark.
Hand-holding, it was a real challenge for the new Tokina 11-16mm f2.8, the stabilised Sigma 17-70mm f2.8-4 Contemporary and from the one I chose to share, taken at f1.6 is from the Sigma Art 30mm f1.4. To my amazement autofocusing was no problem with this lens, unbelievable!
I could hear the traffic outside skimming over the wet road and even rain hammering on the roof. It was a good recluse, so for a couple of quid in loose change I made good use of the time there and got the best out of these three capable lenses.
At least I am able to immerse myself in a hot bath at home, now. No comment!
So pleased and appreciative of attention received on the previous Lonely in Trafalgar Square blip - I wanted to show a true street shot and not a touristy pretty one and you all made it worthwhile, cheers.
