The sun was shining again today and first we visited the Pilots Station with its magnificent views. Then we returned to yesterday's beach and walked into the nature reserve at Klubbsjön.
The end point of that walk is a large decked area with a place for a fire. We took our own wood along and when we arrived previous visitors had lit a fire and it was still going, so we built it up a little and had our sandwiches. We saw people had walked and skated on the frozen lake so we carefully stepped on the ice to see how it was. The ice was really clear and we could see it was at least 30 cm thick so we felt safe. You can drive a car over ice that thick! Mostly the ice was very smooth but in this one place huge crystals had formed on the surface of the ice. My guess is that water had seeped up through a crack and then slowly frozen, creating this intricate pattern of rather huge ice crystals. You can see the more normal ice in my extra, or in HarlingDarling's extra.
