Breno and Murillo
Meeting with Breno and Murillo last night until long after midnight. Breno, the guy in the white shirt, is the founder of Projeto Amar. Murillo worked as the youth pastor of a Baptist church until he was fired after being accused of concentrating his work on young people outside the church. Projeto Amar is in the process of registering as an NGO, and Breno needs help with the legal set-up of his project. He is a great visionary and has thousands of ideas on how to change the lives of people for the better. Murillo and I had a hard time keeping him concentrated on the goal of last nights meeting: Whenever we mentioned something that reminded him of a family in need, he told us their entire story, the plans he had to help them, etc. It was fascinating to see that energy and love in a guy of only 21 years of age, who leads an organization of 80 volunteers (besides his day job!).
This photo was taken at Projeto Amar's "headquarters". It consists of two small rooms used for storing donations and holding meetings. The boxes you see stacked under the fan contain shoes for small children.
Tomorrow morning, Breno will take me to one of the three houses they built last year for families in need.
