Levada walk

Today we drove up to Quemadas and walked the Levada Caldeirao Verde to the waterfall of the same name. We had to negotiate three tunnels and steep drops to one side - fortunately roped off! These levadas are fantastic feats of engineering bringing water from the mountains. We continued a little further on towards Caldeirao Inferno but never made it due to deep water in tunnels (should have taken note of guidebook). In all we walked about 15 miles.
