Big Day Out

It was a big day for the little girl too. She started school in the brand new Kildare Town Educate Together National School, so of course I took the morning off to see her into this new stage of her life. It went well and she came home full of chat about the banana scented scratch 'n sniff sticker that Gerry the principal gave her.

On my way to catch the train 12.50 from Kildare I was held up by an escaped horse on the old road. The gardai were there directing traffic, a jeep pulling a horse trailer, which, judging by the shaking going on contained a very unhappy horse and a number of grooms with buckets of oats for the horse.

After about 10 minutes it seemed that everything was under control and the gardai waved us through, which was probably what spooked the horse which made a bee line for somewhere directly behind me. For a second I thought he was going to come through the windscreen. He didn't, swerving at the last minute.

So really, nothing happened.
