Flight of the Peacock

I have never seen a Peacock fly before, until today that is. Coming to the end of our walk in the local country park, we  came across the local peacocks. One was mooching around on the gravel, and the other scaling the gift shop roof. I had spotted the one on the roof was preparing to launch it's self off. Oh my word what a sight, i thought it would drop like a dead weight, but it was rather graceful for such a large bird.
Having looked at the pictures when i down loaded them, this shot reminded me of the:
 Alfred Lord Tennyson poem The Eagle

He clasps the crag with crooked hands;
Close to the sun in lonely lands,
Ring'd with the azure world, he stands.
The wrinkled sea beneath him crawls;
He watches from his mountain walls,
And like a thunderbolt he falls.

Alfred Lord Tennyson
