A concrete love affair

Bristol's beautiful Clifton Cathedral

The majestic concrete of Bristol's most beautiful Clifton Cathedral..

Last time I visited this brilliant brutalism was my first visit in 2012. That trip I did not venture inside, however this time I was privileged to experience the awe-inspiring and truly resplendent concrete of the interior.. Unbelievable! See Extra Photos.

Heres my text from last time....

I encountered this stunning building in the wonderful Bristol suburb of Clifton yesterday. It’s called The Cathedral Church of SS. Peter and Paul and known as Clifton Cathedral. It is a totally stunning embodiment of brutalist ecclesiastic architecture; the use together of glass, concrete and granite is totally fantastic. Apparently the granite is from Aberdeen. Finding a parking space in Clifton is very difficult on the street so the paved approaches are elevated to accommodate a submerged car parking area. Thanks to this, as a passer by your eye level is much lower than the main entrances, all enhancing the buildings domineering posture and deeply robust presence. What a find, it was totally lovely!!
