Cocteau Twins - From The Flagstones (John Peel session version) (1983)
I wouldn't say that I was an obsessive Cocteaus fan, but I did name my cats Robin and Lizzy after them... They were greatly championed by the late John Peel, whose birthday it is today, and recorded four sessions for his Radio One programme. The original version of From The Flagstones was on their 12" EP Sunburst And Snowblind, and was no. 16 in the 1983 Festive Fifty (formulated by Peel from listeners' votes). Yesterday was the birthday of Elizabeth Fraser, the Cocteaus' extraordinary vocalist, who has just made a lauded return to the live stage.
