New horizons
A great improvement today in the timing of HH's golf game (and my chauffeuring schedule). Play was restricted till after 3.30 pm, so we had all morning at home. I pluttered round doing odd jobs and some sorting, reneged on making a Proper Lunch and got something ready-cooked out of the freezer (served with fresh spinach, though), and then ferried HH to the club.
Walked the dogs by the waterfall again (extra photo) on the way back and as Kayla was wandering off onto the main road afterwards, ignoring my calls and the open car door, I drove off up a little back road. The ruse worked, she followed and I managed to get her back into the car. we then drove on I followed the road further and found it went up the hill and branched out into two or three others, lined with attractive, well-kept houses and gardens. We followed three of the roads to where they petered out into dirt tracks, with a few scruffier houses. Next time, I'll explore further. We've been coming here for 40 years and I had no idea this all existed. The photo was taken from near the top, on the way down. Not a bad view.
It's now dark (the clocks went back last night) and HH is ready to be chauffeured home, so I'll post this and yesterday's blips and go and fetch him.
P.S. Feeling happy: solved the problem of Carnival, when HH wants to be up here (but I don't feel he's safe on his own), while I thought I had to be in Rio for Airbnb guests. Now our daughter's friend says she's happy to stay at ours and keep an eye on them - hooray! And then, it has been a glorious day, I found a new area to explore - and I have the scent of the ginger flower behind my ear to remind me of Hawaii.
