Umm Kulthum

Egypt's iconic singer who is still listened to by everyone daily. Her statue rises above the trees in Zamalek where she once lived. The intersection and hotel are also named after her.

Born in 1898, died in 1975, and given the honorific title of Planet of the East. Also a songwriter and actress.

Photo taken from Coffee Bean, one of my local coffee shops which is currently being refurbished. Still quieter than the Teaching Centre and also hit by the same ridiculous price rises. Inflation is now at 29%.
