Counting birds

It is the 20th annual Great Backyard Bird Count weekend. This four day event is organized by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, the National Audubon Society, and Bird Studies of Canada. People around the world take part in counting and identifying the birds they see, helping the scientist to have a better understanding of bird populations in various areas. John and I have taken part for many years. Mostly we report the birds right around our house, then take a drive around the dike to count some of the raptors and water fowl there... a challenge to say the least. The reporting logs always give this option: " I am not reporting all the birds I saw."
The main blip has some of the wintering Trumpeter Swans and Canada Geese, the extra is of a Bald Eagle about to fly off.
