Help!

Can one of you wise ones please identify this plant. It was a spindly twiggy bush/tree about 6ft tall no leaves but bearing these fruits or are they flowers. Apparently in German they are called broken hearts but I have no idea what they are in English. would love to get one for the garden, so pretty.
