Moss on a rock

For a few days this newly developed moss will have this beautiful fresh, bright green colour.  One of my favourite times in the life of the garden.  We have many granary stones which we use as border markers.  The moss grows in every nook and cranny on them - when it's time.  These stones date back to when our site was part of a stack yard, late 1890's and the stooks of corn were laid across a grid of granary stones.  This allowed the air to circulate under the stack and dry the corn.
