Not a windfall
It has reportedly been the wettest English summer for a century and the fruit harvest in my garden has been poor. This is the first apple to ripen on the tree and be picked rather than blown off in the wind. The variety is James Grieve, which I chose because I have fond memories of these apples in my grandmother's garden in Wales when I was growing up. Wishing everyone a fruitful weekend as we move into September.
