Stone Store, Kerikeri

We didn't realise until we visited, but the area around Kerikeri and Paihia in northern North Island NZ was the first area to be settled by the British in the early 1800s. Three missions were established and this mission store has been trading continuously since around 1830. The mission house adjacent is the oldest building in NZ. The Waitangi Treaty agreement between the Brits and Maoris was signed a few miles down the coast, where the British governor had his house.
