Seaton Tramway

This one of the trams belonging to the Seaton Tramway that runs a regular service from Seaton to Colyton alongside the River Axe on a narrow gauge track built on the bed of the old Southern Railway which was axed in 1966 by the infamous Dr Beecham.

The business was moved down from East Bourne in around 1969 and ran its first tram on the 28th August 1970 and now has a Victorian style terminus near the center of Seaton while at Colyton they use the old railway station.

It is very popular with holiday makers and locals alike and their bird watching trip have been featured on TV.

While serving in the Force locally, a colleague and I commandeered one of the trams to search for an escaped prisoner who was thought to have made of along the river bank! Did we find him? No, but it was great fun
