In Friston Forest there use to be an airfield on the15 of Dec 1944 a Uc-64A Norseman landed at the airfield for refuelling having traveled from an airfield in Bedfordshire and was to travel onwards to  France, on landing a Major of the United States Army Airforce was seen to get out of the aircraft to stretch his legs, the aircraft was to vanish shortly afterwards over the English Channel  the rest as they say is history, there is very authoritative evidence if you look in the right places to back this story up
