Last order

The last order in this pub was last year. It closed, along with many other bars, restaurants and hotels due to the downturn in the offshore energy business.
When I was 18 I got sacked from a job that I had for a couple of years. I then got sacked from a kid I had for a couple of years.
This pub had a vacancy for a barman. I went in to see about it. The manager was out for his lunch.
I didn't go back and went to the army recruiting office instead.
How things would have been very different if he was in.
