Lily Tarn
With more inclement weather forecast for the week-end it was nice to get out for a walk in the sunshine. Doris has disappeared but left behind snow-covered peaks. After a wandering around Fell Foot and stopping briefly to admire the view from Queen Adelaide's Hill near Bowness I headed into Ambleside and wandered around the lower slopes of Loughrigg. I had originally intended to walk to Loughrigg Tarn and back but I noticed Lily Tarn on the map and as I had never been I decided to take a look. What a treat - I was spoilt for choice with lovely views in all directions: the tarn with Red Screes behind, Fairfield Horseshoe, Lake Windermere and the Langdales all visible. A shot of Fairfield Horseshoe is in extras.
