Harmonia Axyridis

I saw this little bug on the windowsill this morning. According to the Wiki thing it's known by various names including Harlequin Ladybeetle. Originally from Asia these beetles were introduced to Europe to to control aphid and scale insect population. Unfortunately as with many introduced species they have had a detrimental effect on our indigenous ladybirds.

On a cheerier note we are going out for a meal at the Dirty Duck/Black Swan with Jo and James.
