Last Larch Standing

In this part of the La Vare Valley above Pont de Nant all of the trees have been swept away by avalanches in previous years. This single larch must have a charmed life! I was so glad to be out on the hill again late this afternoon. There was no one else there, the silence was complete except for my footsteps in the snow, a wonderful walking meditation.

Hope all is calm again, in Britain, after the passage of Doris!
