"False Sunrise" (6:42 AM)

Yesterday I mentioned that it would be very unlikely to see a visible sunrise again today and, alas, the forecast was correct ... :o|

However, about 20 minutes prior to sunrise, a reflection appeared in the sky which made it look like sun had already risen and was peeping through the clouds ... (this image was taken at 6:42 AM, yet sunrise wasn't until 7:00 AM) ... ??

What in fact this turned out to be was, in fact, a "False Sunrise" ... Although the sun was still below the horizon, the light from it was being refracted through the layer of cloud ... :o)

The actual sunrise was totally hidden by cloud at 7 o'clock ... as, indeed, it has been for most of today ... :o/
