The Niche

Still pecking away at my friends' old Victorian house, I took on a helper and built a ladder platform so that we could access the niche where Frank is painting in this shot. It's not reachable except by an oversized ladder (such as only roofers usually have), or by cherry-picker, or by scaffolding. Orphaned spots like this will catch a painter's eye all over town. We know exactly what equipment or knowlege was lacking where the paint stops in the middle of a surface.

The corner is being painted for the first time in at least fifty years. A few people commented that my rigging didn't look so solid, but when I invited them to give it a shake they all agreed it was safe. Many have complimented the paint job as well, but as all painters know, it's the design of the house and the colors that they really love.
