Brunch in Brunswick
Brunswick is an inner city suburb of Melbourne. The smaller streets are leafy and filled with Victorian and Federation terrace houses, most with a heritage overlay which preserves the exterior, including the colour, of the dwellings. It has become very trendy and quite expensive. Our daughter and her family live in this area. They are professionals - as are most of the residents, but mostly the locals tend to downplay their status. They are called "shabby chic" - they are largely green in their outlook, they recycle religiously, shop in op shops, drive their cars forever and seldom renew household furniture. However, they all seem to be avid "foodies", so there is a proliferation of fabulous eating establishments. This cafe, called Lux, is within a short walk of our daughter's home. The food is superb - I had prawn and crabmeat spagehttilini (?), which was delicious. The cafe is set against a graffiti covered brick wall which hides the railway line and crossing. It is dog friendly, which is why we took our gorgeous grandson and his puppy along. There are lots of water bowls set out in the al fresco area.
I thought I was surreptitiously taking this shot, but obviously the waitress spotted me. I have much to learn about street photography. My extra will show you just how good those chunky fries and strawberry milkshakes were.
