2000
I figured that for my 2000th blip I should choose an image genre that has become "my thing" over the years. As it happens the rain had been falling steadily (if moderately) for the second day running which is always good for the falls.
I really didn't think I'd ever get this far with Blipfoto. I have fully "given up" twice ... only to eventually come back. I have tried occasional blipping ... only to resume daily postings again. Finding worthwhile subjects gets difficult to be sure but then so many of you must feel the same way. I truly envy those with seemingly inexhaustible supplies of enthusiasm and inspiration.
What this site is really all about (of course) is the membership. The spirit of positivity and the culture of support that exist here should be a model for all social media to follow ... if only it would. Given the hostilities, division and buffoonery which characterize so much of international politics these days, I find Blipfoto to be a genuine refuge.
I'd like to acknowledge all of those who have followed me and visited my postings over the years. Your friendship has meant a great deal to me. Through Blip, my knowledge of the world and of creative photography has been enormously enhanced. I could not have imagined how much. My principal regret is that it has proven impossible to visit and support all those journals that I would have wanted to. There's never enough time it seems.
Blipfoto's recent misadventures and the uncertain nature of contemporary times in general, have reminded me that nothing in life can be taken for granted. While I have no intention of quitting my journal and my health seems fair enough for the moment, I can readily accept that this might well represent my last "celebratory" blip. May I just take this opportunity (in case there is no other) to say one big thank you to everyone here.
