Bataille de Fleurs

Two carnival parades in Nice today, the Bataille de Fleurs (Battle of the Flowers) in the afternoon and the illuminated main carnival parade at night. This is from the former - the light was unsurprisingly much better in the daytime, plus we were down at street level so better for close-up shots. The nighttime shots were less successful as we were up in the high stalls - great for a panoramic view but not so good for photographic variety.

The carnival has been as well-attended as ever despite the massively increased security since the Bastille Day attack. Crazy long queues and airport-style security checks made for a frustrating start to each event but you soon get over it once the festivities get going :)
