little boxes

Went to the opening of an exhibition at the Pier Arts Centre on Friday night. Orkney graduates from the Orkney College and other mainland art schools showed their work and there was also an exhibition of the work of local primary school kids. Such a good show, work based on themes of dreams, cell biology, paper cutting, layering, the Shetland coastline... and lots more. My photograph shows the work of Leeanne Fischler who graduated in product design, she also showed a lovely wee film showing the construction of this light installation- pouring plaster into little moulds to make the boxes and connecting up the bulbs and  copper wires.Went back yesterday to have a better  look round, so much to take in.
