Workout Interval
Miss C was keen to head out on her bike again today and in the interest of avoiding roads in general, we headed to Alton Water; a reservoir on the way to Ipswich which is a relatively short drive from home. Master H had to be coaxed from his slumber in the back seat of the car. He wasn't keen but didn't protest too much due to the short journey there. Unfortunately for him, his head has grown too large for his cycling helmet, so he reluctantly agreed to wear his sister's old one. We'll have to invest in a new one for him.
Rather than stretch to a full 8.5 mile circuit, Miss C thankfully agreed to a trip to the café and return to the car park at Lemons Hill. In all, a journey of a little under 6 miles, but with a break in the middle. It also avoids some very unkind hills - short but nevertheless a surprise for a reservoir circuit. In the event, she found the ride much more taxing than I did, those legs of hers being somewhat smaller and unused to pushing pedals than mine. Nevertheless, she put her heart and soul into it and did very well. It was a relief as I still have a lack of energy. Blood samples were taken two and a half weeks ago, which were subsequently lost so I duly provided more. The test results are expected to appear next week.
Much to Miss C's delight, the Park Café was open for a drink and snack, which we all enjoyed before heading back to the car. We stopped on the way back to catch a blip shot or two, Miss C agreeing to dismount and photo the snowdrops for me, rather than me having to unstrap Master H from his seat.
Meanwhile at home, beloved was roasting a chicken, so you can imagine the aromas welcoming us on our return, prompting the children to enquire as to how long dinner would be. "I'm hungry!!"
