Did I say how nice it was to wake up in my own bed?  The first thing I did this morning was to fill the empty bird feeders and within minutes all the usual suspects were back.  The activity was amazing.  Of course, it was also quite cold, the first cold day in quite a while.  We tried to escape the February cold with our trip to Florida, and apparently, while we were gone, DC had one of the warmest Februarys on record.  There were days when the temperature was warmer in DC than in Florida.

Just as we drove into Virginia, the weather front moved in and the temperatures plummeted. No matter, I have the warm weather of the Southwest to look forward to in about 3 weeks.  I will beat this winter cold one way or the other.
