Chipmunks or ground squirrels?

Apparently they are not the same but sometimes ground squirrels are called chipmunks. These are white-tailed antelope ground squirrels and they are tiny. Each one is only about 6 inches long. I saw them today in the Valley of Fire, a Nevada state park. The scenery was spectacular with loads of very red rocks.
