The Archdrude came to town and owned it!
Julian Cope at Oran Mor, Glasgow
Opening with Autogeddon Blues, Julian Cope went straight for the jugular, as it built and built towards its epic sonic crescendo, announcing that we'd arrived on planet Cope for the next 1 and a half hours. Despite it being a one man show Cope commands the stage with acoustic in hand, whilst grinding out songs from his extensive back catalogue of 37 years or more, dipping too, into the back catalogue of The Teardrop Explodes and coming back up for air with such gems as ; The Culture Bunker, Great Dominions, and Treason.
Cope was on form, the stories were flowing and entertaining, between songs. He seemed too, to enjoy the interaction with the audience's Glesga Banter. A Cope concert is not just about the songs, it's very much about the man too. A brilliant night!
Favourite moment: Someone in the audience shouting out after The Greatness & Perfection, "Your the best 'Bah, Bah, Bah' singer in the whole wide world!"
