Final

... gorgeous moments of the end of some incredibly hard work by my little musician (and her support crew of me and B, to be fair) as we recorded the final element of her audition tape for her bursary application. We've put a lot of work into this! At 745 this morning we redid one element and that as they say in film land was a wrap! A brilliant piano lesson followed where she and B really well worked through something she'd learnt wrongly and she carefully unpicked it and fixed it. Calmly. It was a big thing. She earned an extra monkey sticker for how well she dealt with it!

I took her to school on our bikes, a bit less than willingly. "Dance is going to be the only good thing today. I hope he doesn't ask if we are glad to be back because I'll want to say no". And it didn't get much better when they arrived at school and learnt from now on they'll all lose afternoon play to make room for extra maths and English! Thankfully they seem to have accepted it fairly well. For now!

I spent some time with B this afternoon finalising the last bits of this mammoth bursary application. It was an exciting moment to send it off at last. Though B for her forward for it, she thinks as we've gone through the process she may be on the young side for it. If nothing else, she's gone through the experience of preparing an "audition reel" and having this kind of target to aim for.

She came home after school and had some tummy trouble so watched tv quietly as she ate her tea. She was pleased to get back to band tonight and came out excited about some brilliant workshops the centre are putting on with City of Culture funding. She also was pleased as they had their music for youth information and she'll get out of school early (followed by a whole day out for it with her other ensemble the next day!)

She said in the car "can I have some classical music on please?" And put her snugly hood up. She promptly fell asleep, though the transfer to house wasn't successful and it was gone 9 before she settled!
