Iconic "I'm in Rome" image

I must say I took both a lot of pictures, and not a lot, in Rome. Most of the time when we are wandering around and visiting small churches or streets or monuments, I'm too busy looking, thinking, taking it in and discussing with R. to want to divest my attention to take pictures.
Then when we are in a large monument or museum and have the time, I will be able to both take the time to absorb things in the now, and take pictures.
The Flavian amphitheatre was one of these - we had booked a tour on Friday night but this was cancelled with an unexpected closure (there was some kind of transport strike, we think, that prevented guides etc. from getting to/from work) - luckily the next day we were able to jump on an additional tour. The tour gets you some stories and extra explanations and context, but, more importantly, access to restricted areas such as the underground rooms and the 3rd level :) For 8 euros extra (kids free), there's just no reason not to, ever!
