The Ronda valley

No, not the Welsh one. I walked down into the Andalusian version to take some photographs looking up at this spectacular town. This group of climbers wanted me to take their photograph before they descended all the way to the bottom of the gorge to climb back up, on what I think must be a "via ferrata." You cannot judge from this image what risks I took - standing just inches feet from a massive drop.

We are staying in a lovely Parador near to the Puente Nuevo (new bridge) built just recently in the late 18th century and from which, according to Hemingway, civil war prisoners were thrown to their deaths.

The steep walk down into the valley led to some spectacular views up to the town and to the mountains.
