Ashes
by David Rudkin at the Octagon theater Bolton.
Usually you come out of seeing a play in high spirits...not tonight. The audience filed out very quietly. The actors played it really well. Set in the years 1969 - 1972 it's about a couple who are infertile.
There is a chronology of events of these years in the program. First man on the moon. maiden flight of Concorde, The Beatles break up, Dutch Elm Disease, The house of commons vote in favour of joining the European Economic Community, the first CAT scan, Idi Amin expels 50,000 Asians with British passports, Jesus Christ Super Star makes its debut in the West End, The miner's strikes, so many troubles in Northern Ireland: Bloody Sunday, the Abercorn restaurant bombing.....
The highlight of my day has to be sharing pancakes with Little Missy, Mum and Grandbaby! Extra - To leave you with a smile! (when you have the camera set to 1/4 sec You really can't expect anything better!!)
Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent.
