Let sleeping cats lie

We had a relaxed night tonight. Roz's wee sisted Joanne showed up with her wee one Lucy. I cooked Quattro Formaggio for dinner then, once Lucy was off to bed, we settled down for a film.

We ended up watching Happy go lucky. I normally quite like Mike Leigh films, his focus on the characters more than the situations they find themselves in is usually done very well. On the surface this was a bit lighter than you'd maybe expect for a Mike Leigh film but very, very worth watching. He has a knack for writing characters that are more engaging than the bulk of those you tend to see on screen. He certainly manages to write characters that seem more like real people than you sometimes expect from cinema.

Go and check it out, a bit quirky perhaps but well worth the time invested.
