The place where the first Viking landed in Iceland; an outcast from Scandinavia. He brought his family and slaves, and so Iceland was settled.
This is actually a statute commemorating the end of the Cod Wars between the UK and Iceland. Two statues face each other across the sea. The other is in Kingston upon Hull. The scenery is stunning. We saw the farm below the volcano that erupted in 2010 and prevented us from having a long weekend in Rome. Tomorrow we walk on a glacier.

Update: My first ever view of the Northern Lights tonight, which has been on my bucket list for a very long time. It didn't last long, and was easier to see with the camera than the naked eye. We went out again later and it wasn't as strong but the sky was clearer. One extra from each occasion.
