Placid Lake

Actually, it's Lake Padden which, barely six weeks ago, was frozen solid with all sorts of brave, and slightly crazy folks skating, playing and sledding on the ice.  One of the reasons I love living in the Pacific Northwest is the weather and the fact it never does anything very bad here.  And, trust me, I know bad weather having moved to Washington from Montana where serious, killer weather is a given.  If we get snow here it's gone in a few days; if it's cold it warms up in a few days; if it's really hot, it doesn't stay that way very long.  Of course, there is that active volcano lurking in our back yard and that pesky Cascadia Fault off the coast to consider, both of which could significantly change the landscape around here.  And, if you throw in current political, environmental and economic threats, it takes courage to get out of bed in the morning.  On the positive side, my family is (are?) close by, spring isn't far away and Blip is alive and well so I'm going to rely on those things to keep me sane.
